The role:

Position:
Weekend Assignment Editor, CP24, Bell Media

Location:299 Queen St W, Toronto

Salary:
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work:40 hours per week - involves shift work including weekends and evening.

Description:

Responsibilities:

Generating story ideas and booking guests for live interviews
Assigning a team of reporters and live field crews
Identifying and working on breaking news coverage, handling feeds and developing and curating a wide ranging list of diverse contacts
Taking part in the daily and longterm planning of news coverage
Act as a liaison with local stations, various networks and agencies
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Indepth knowledge of local/domestic news and current affairs
Experience in coordinating breaking news coverage
Excellent organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, selfassign and prioritize duties
Knowledge of iNews an asset
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Experience working in a newsroom as a team player
Working and upholding the highest professional journalistic standards
A broad knowledge of television broadcast and digital news technologies
Strong social media skills
