Indigenous Liaison Coordinator


Location:
Cochrane, ON (Otter Rapids)


Reporting to the Project Manager, the Indigenous Liaison plays a crucial role in facilitating our company's operations within the ancestral lands of the Moose Cree First Nation, located at Abitibi Canyon in northern Ontario.

This position requires a deep understanding and respect for Indigenous culture, protocols, and the unique relationship between our company and the community.

Your primary responsibilities as an Indigenous Liaison would include:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the Moose Cree First Nation community, elders, leadership, and other key stakeholders;
  • Acting as a bridge between our company and the Moose Cree First Nation, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and mutual understanding;
  • Facilitating community engagement and participation in project planning, decisionmaking processes, and ongoing activities;
  • Providing cultural guidance and support to ensure that our company's operations align with Indigenous values, customs, and traditions;
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of strategies and initiatives that promote Indigenous inclusion, capacity building, and economic opportunities;
  • Collaborating with project teams to integrate Indigenous knowledge, perspectives, and priorities into project plans, goals, and objectives;
  • Supporting the company's compliance with Indigenous rights, land use agreements, and regulatory requirements;
  • Serving as a resource for employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders, promoting cultural sensitivity, awareness, and respectful engagement;
  • Facilitating training and education sessions to enhance cultural competency and understanding among project personnel;
  • Monitoring and addressing any concerns or conflicts that may arise, implementing proactive measures to foster positive and collaborative relationships;
  • Documenting and reporting on community interactions, initiatives, and progress, ensuring transparency and accountability.
