Description

Reporting to the foreman, the Tandem Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Tandem.

The Class 1 Tandem Operator will be responsible for delivering the asphalt equipment to worksites, including the loading and unloading of heavy equipment and hauling materials to the worksite.

Responsibilities:

• Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and loaded, ensuring safety and road worthiness
• Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver's hours, occupational health and safety
• Perform pretrip vehicle inspection to ensure mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Maintain daily logs, inspection logs and other necessary paperwork.
• Perform duties safely around mobile equipment and have a high sense of safety awareness while performing work
• Load and unload heavy equipment
• Understand how to properly load materials
• Understands how to properly back into an asphalt paver
• Other duties as required

Requirements:

• 35 years' experience within the road construction industry
• 23 year's experience operating tandem's and hauling heavy equipment
• Valid clean class 1 driver's license
• Has own transportation to and from work
• Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements
• CSA approved steel toed work boots
• Must comply with company's drug and alcohol policy
• Willing to work overtime, as required
• Safety certifications considered an asset
