Description

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Government Relations Manager on a permanent basis on our External Relations team. This position is a remote opportunity and can be based across Western Canada.

The Government Relations Manager will implement a comprehensive government relations strategy in service to FCL, its whole owned subsidiaries and local Co-ops.

We are looking for an individual who can effectively and efficiently build and maintain relationships with government officials, and politicians and political staff.

What you'll do:

Monitor key issues on a federal and provincial basis and communicate the status of changes to government policy/legislation/regulations to relevant areas in a timely manner.
Identify risks relating to proposed government policies, regulations, etc., which may at times require extensive research and interpretation of these policies and regulations.
Gather and analyze information to assist to identify partnership opportunities and development policy positions and government relations tactics.
Participate on government relations committees for trade associations of which FCL is a member; as well, monitor the government relations activities of these trade associations (ex. Canadian Fuels, CropLife, Fertilizer Canada, Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, etc.).
Lead the development of the CRS annual government relations contact kit, including development of relevant CRS materials.
Develop external communication strategy and design tactics to build awareness of Coop's economic impact and governance model with key external stakeholders.

Who you'll work with:

You will work closely with a variety of stakeholders across the organization, including FCL, Co-op Refinery Complex, Co-op Ethanol Complex & local Co-ops to engage the appropriate SMEs in the submission and response process for government policy issues and opportunities.

Who you are:

Have a bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Political Studies, or related field. (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
Proficiency in written communication is required. Experience in the CRS or coop sector is an asset.
