Position Overview:


The incumbent performs a variety of technical functions relating to the accurate and efficient processing of health records with regard to discharge analysis, quality assurance of records completion, coding and abstracting of clinical information, utilization and tasks related to the department's statistical, audit, release of personal health information and research requirements.


Experience:


  • Related experience in a Health Information Services Department required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Successful completion of a recognized Health Information Management program.
  • Education and experience in ICD10 CA/CCI coding and abstracting standards as well as Manitoba Health and CIHI data requirements is required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Active CHIMA membership preferred.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to successfully work within a team environment.
  • Flexibility, reliability and independence in planning work.
  • Willingness to participate in skill updating and selfdevelopment activities relating to the job.
  • Must appreciate the need for accuracy and thoroughness with regard to performance of duties.***
    Physical Requirements:
  • Good physical and mental health to meet position demands.
  • General office environment.
  • Prolonged physical activities include; walking, standing for long periods, sitting, lifting & loading chart bins, stair climbing, carrying multiple chart volumes, pushing carts filled with charts, bending frequently, pulling and reaching for charts.
  • Environment consists of frequent interruptions.
This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
