Position Profile:

Reporting to the Sr.

Manager of Residential Services, the Youth Transitional Housing Manager will be responsible for the overall management and operations of the Rutherford Road Youth Transitional House.

This role includes the supervision and management of front-line Youth Workers, programming staff and supervisors.


The Youth Transitional Housing Manager will manage the facility, programs and operations while ensuring the most successful outcome for the youth both while in the program and aftercare.


Role Overview:


  • Develop, promote and support a housing first strategy that builds success through the social determinants of health.
  • Lead the daytoday operation of the transitional housing program, including case management and overall programming for the residents.
  • Participate as a member of the management team in the development and review of agency practices and programs.
  • Build a team of accountable, caring, responsive and highly motivated frontline employees in support of clients.
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring and performance management of new employees, volunteers, and students focused on talent that will always act in the best interests of the youth in support.
  • Oversee monthly scheduling, review timesheets before submission and coordinate vacation requests.
  • Provide constructive feedback in regular supervision to employees, volunteers and students.
  • Implement the HR policies, procedures, and practices of the organization.
  • Build, maintain and ensure the highest level of data integrity in support of evidenced based outcomes and funder reports.
  • Manage intake and admissions, program plans, action plans, discharges and aftercare of residents.
  • Participate on a rotation basis with other designated management staff to respond to emergencies via oncall support.
  • Participate in the development of the yearly budgeting process and oversee the annual transitional housing budget.
  • Compile statistical information and prepare monthly reports as required for program evaluation and development.
  • Participate on committees and task forces as required with other agencies addressing issues facing youth.
  • Create a safe and secure setting for all youth accessing services at the transitional program.
  • Ensure that professional standards are maintained as related to client documentation and case management.
  • Ensure that the facility meets health and safety standards.
  • Foster a positive and supportive working environment with an emphasis on building a position labour relations climate.
  • All other duties as required in the successful management of program operations while partnering with all stakeholders in support of organizational success.

Qualifications:


  • University degree or equivalent in a related social services field. Masters in relative field is considered an asset.
  • 35 years of experience working as a supervisor/manager in the social service sector, preferably with a focus on youth homelessness.
  • Understanding of issues relating to youth homelessness and the barriers youth face in attaining and maintaining their housing, as well as an understanding of the broader housing sector in Peel.
  • Experience in recruiting and supervising program staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership to the staff team.
  • Cultural competency sensitivity and commitment to working through an EDIB, antioppressive, antiracism framework.
  • Experience working with budgets, funding proposals, and completing funding requirements.
  • Valid CPI/UMAB certification, First Aid/CPR certification is preferred
  • A valid Ontario's full G Driver's Licence is required, with a clean driver's abstract. A $2,000,000 minimum liability car insurance coverage is also mandatory.
  • Completion of a successful Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Record Check will be a condition of employment.
