Located in the heart of the Pemberton Valley, the traditional and unceded territory of Líl'wat Nation, who have cared for these lands and waters since time immemorial.


The Pemberton Museum has over 2,000 artifacts, 2,000 photographs and over 20 meters of archival and reference materials that have been collected since 1982.

Our mandate is to collect, preserve and display artifacts associated with human activity in the District.


Our 1-acre site is home to 9 buildings, the earliest built in 1897, as well as a collection of over 2,500 artifacts, 2,000 photographs and over 20 meters of archival and reference materials.

Our exhibits include examples of early pioneer life, farming, schooling, commerce, transportation, and industry, as well the ingenuity, creativity and artistry of those that came before us.


Open to the public between June and October, we host group and private tours, school field trips, community and private events and offer our guests a variety of fun activities to engage and educate.


The Pemberton Museum staff team is made up of a dynamic group of individuals dedicated to sharing the history of Pemberton with our community and the world.


Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our team. As an Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily operations to ensure efficiency and productivity.

This is a leadership role that requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage a team, and a focus on process improvement.

The Curator


Terms of employment:
Seasonal Full-Time, $21-24/hour depending on relevant experience

April 2- November 8, 2024 / Tuesdays to Saturdays

Overall responsibility:
Leadership of museum programs and events under the guidance and supervisor of the Curator. Develop and improve visitor services, activities and outreach. Assist with supervision of Guest Services staff and daily operations and administration to ensure a successful and fun season.

Leadership

  • Assist with training, orientation and supervision of museum staff and provide coaching and feedback to enhance staff knowledge and the visitor experience.
  • Provide/share knowledge of surrounding area history and encourage/promote return visits to the Pemberton Museum.
  • Lead and continually develop and improve the visitor experience at the museum.
Visitor Service

  • Assist with developing guided and unguided tours to engage visitors during their visit to the
Pemberton Museum.

  • Assess, improve, and develop onsite signage to enhance visitor experience, encourage an
appreciation and understanding of local history and culture, and improve orientation.

Programming

  • Assist with planning and executing museum programs and special events.
  • Assist with coordination of staff and volunteers.
  • Assist with booking and coordination of group visits (schools and tours).
  • Create fun and educational activities and resources on site and online to connect visitors to Pemberton and area rich history.
Promotions

  • Promote and assist in management of museum communication platforms and those of our partners.
  • Promote and maintain museum programs and events through Pemberton Museum communication platforms and those of our partners.
  • Oversee development of promotional material including signs, posters, press releases, blogs, social media campaigns and newsletters.
  • Create, manage and review website and blog updates, social media posts, comments and messages.
  • Develop and document procedures with the assistance of the Curator.

Operations:

  • Assist with supervision of operations including daily and weekly inspections as required.

Administration:

  • Assist with daily supervision of visitor services.
  • Assist with daily and monthly cash management.
  • Assist with monthly expense management, invoice review and follow up.
  • Assist with museum membership management receipts, mailing lists.
  • Assist with timekeeping and scheduling of staff and volunteers.
  • Assist with inventory and supply management for museum.
  • Assist with collection management receiving items, handling reproductions and research requests.

  • Physical requirements include: some lifting, moving or carrying objects of various weight and
dimension, walking, climbing stairs, using a step ladder, standing for long periods, walking on uneven surfaces, and desk work.
