As a member of Wilfrid Laurier University's Student Affairs management team, the _Manager, Student Affairs Marketing and Communications _plays a key role in developing student affairs communications strategies and the proactive media relations strategy in support of the department's strategic objectives.
The incumbent will establish and maintain strong working relationships with campus partners, and work with a communications team to develop and implement the Student Affairs communication strategy.
Accountabilities
Strategic Communications Planning
- Connects with leaders across Student Affairs to develop, oversee, and execute communications plans for each area. This involves setting goals, objectives, tasks and measurement mechanisms, and fostering working environments that make meeting milestones and deadlines possible.
- Sets and oversees multichannel communication strategies and content for Student Affairs initiatives to ensure timely messaging, implementation of best practices, and coordination of efforts across the department.
- Develops and maintains an action plan to successfully execute marketing and communication campaigns by determining the correct audience, timelines, messaging, and tone of the campaign, as well as the correct media and location of campaign materials.
- Sets and oversees strategy for Student Affairs social media channels, using various platforms as tools to share informational and inspirational content related to students' success both in
- Engages in ongoing environmental scans, media tracking, and social media inventories to make evidencebased decisions related to campaigns and programs.
- Provide strategic advice to the leadership team of Student Affairs on messaging, organization and direction of Student Affairs' websites and social media presence.
- Responsible for researching new and innovative marketing and communications initiatives to promote initiatives.
- Develops and leads communications strategies (internal and external) based on research and benchmarking to support student affairs initiatives. Reviews strategies for consideration of EDI and
Content Creation and Execution (print, web, social media)
- Leads the production and delivery of the digital marketing and communication strategy for Student Affairs departments.
- Account and content manager for various Instagram accounts; responsible for all aspects of accounts including, but not limited to: content strategy development, creation of all digital content, and engaging with audience.
- Responsible for prioritizing tasks to ensure key deadlines are met. This includes oversight of marketing and editorial calendars, setting expectations on timelines with key internal and external stakeholders and following up and adjusting if they change.
- Monitor, maintain and refresh marketing editorial calendars for key stakeholders
