Full-time // Remote (anywhere in British Columbia)
Idea Camp Communications Inc.

is a boutique communications firm that provides research, planning and implementation of communications strategies to support nonprofits, government and public organizations.

We pride ourselves on holistic practices that help our clients strengthen their public presence, and engage their key audiences.


Our client list is growing, and so is our small but mighty team We are looking for a self-starting, passionate communications specialist to join us and support/lead a variety of client projects.

You will have the exciting opportunity to see projects from start to finish, not only showcasing your skills, but also learning firsthand many aspects of communications alongside a supportive and talented team.


Role Overview


As a boutique firm, this position offers a chance to try out many different areas of communications to build your skills, while also leaving room for creativity and experimentation.

Note:

While the majority of the work can be conducted from home, this position may require meeting with clients in person, within your geographic location.


Duties include:


Research & Strategy:
An important part of communications is strategic planning.


This role will require you to dig in, conduct research, and help with data analysis, report writing, and document creation.

This position could also include other duties, projects, and initiatives to support Idea Camp's growth and development.


Client & Project Management:
You will be supporting and/or leading multiple client accounts and may be integrated into their respective teams.

You will be responsible for organizing and managing the day-to-day responsibilities and maintaining a healthy rapport with these clients, as well as keeping the projects on track and organized.


Quality Control:
You will ensure a high level of performance in all projects. You will be expected to monitor and analyze all communication milestones and keep campaign budgets on pace. We would love for you to bring forward and suggest


best practices, tools, and new approaches, and share relevant content with the rest of the team It's important that you remain knowledgeable of current communications strategies, programs, and campaigns to keep our work fresh and relevant.

You will need to build trust and respect for your teammates by providing feedback to others in a positive and constructive manner, and working with them as a team in various capacities.

Policy Creation:
At Idea Camp, we support our clients by improving existing communications processes and policies, or by developing new ones. This could include auditing communications channels, process mapping, or policy development. For this role, we would love to see an analytical, solutions-focused mindset.


Must-Haves

  • We are open to a range of experience levels from 25+ years (compensation will commensurate with experience) working in communications
  • Outstanding written, presentation, and verbal communications skills
  • Direct government work experience: Idea Camp works with a diverse array of clients, however, many are connected to municipal and provincial governments.
  • Wellversed in media relations and pitching: experience writing press materials, media pitches, and key messages
  • Public engagement experience
  • Content writing and storytelling: the ability to refine messages into clear, compelling communications in a variety of formats
  • Exceptional at time management and a track record of working successfully on your own, while providing valuable input to a team

BIG BONUS:
Graphic design - InDesign and Canva (please provide samples)

  • Animated video production skills
  • Event planning
  • Online facilitation specifically Miro boards and working with groups to brainstorm and develop strategy

  • IAP2 certification and practical experience
