    Description

    Job Title:
    Safety Manager

    *Responsibilities:

    • Must maintain absolute confidentiality and remain impartial
    * · Assist Corporate in developing and implementing occupational health and safety program,
    * policies, procedures and processes
    * · Advise all levels of management, JHSC, and employees on Health and Safety issues
    * · Ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures, as well as all government

    • Regulations, enforcing compliance as required
    * · Oversee all onsite WSIB claims management activities and the return to work program
    * · Responsible for all onsite safety training needs and provide training to all employees, ensuring
    * training is up to date in accordance with legislation
    * · Review Incident reports; close-loop of countermeasures and follow up on action plans providing
    * assistance with corrective actions as necessary
    * · Ensure Coaching/Training the operations team on trends and goals with regards to Incident
    * reports is completed as required
    * · Ensure Risk Assessments are completed and assist with implementing countermeasures.
    * · Perform and/or arrange for ergonomics assessment, as required
    * · Ensure Emergency Procedures are up to date and that appropriate personnel are trained on the procedures · Be an active member of the JHSC · Attend training sessions, seminars and networking groups for continued professional growth · Filing · All other duties as assigned

    *Direct Responsibilities:
    * · Maintain and ensure compliance with all applicable legislation relating to the OH&S Act,
    * · Help all departments to improve and enhance their safety and training programs
    * · Focus on prevention of accidents, incidents, and injuries

    *Physical Responsibilities:
    * · Frequent computer use
    * · May be required to sit for extended periods of time
    * · May be required to repeatedly lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs unassisted
    * · May be required to lift between 50-75 lbs assisted
    * · Frequent use of hands, lifting, bending, stooping, twisting, standing and reaching may occur
    * · There may be some stepping up, stepping down and carrying

    *Hazards/PPE** · Office hazards minimal
    * · Lift Truck traffic
    * · Warehouse related atmosphere
    * · CSA approved safety shoes
    * · CSA approved vest
    * · Hazards (physical, biological, chemical, musculoskeletal, psychosocial and safety) and PPE as
    * identified by Company policies, procedures and practices

    *Prerequisites** · Minimum of 5 years' experience in Health and Safety field
    * · Working knowledge of legislation/principles concerning Health and Safety
    * · Working knowledge of US Occupational Safety and Health laws
    * · Grade 12 Education or Equivalent
    * · University or College graduate in OHS or equivalent field; CRSP preferred
    * · No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
    * · Successful completion of aptitude test
    * · Must pass company medical
    * · Must be willing to support all Shifts
    * · Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills
    * · Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills


    Job Types:
    Full-time, Permanent


    Pay:
    $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year

    Experience:
    * health and Safety: 5 years (required)


    • Construction: 5 years (required)
    • Automotive industry: 1 year (required)
