The Position

Reporting to the Innovatia Project Manager, the Subject Matter Expert (SME) reviews source technical content relating to storage and compression facilities.

Technical content may include P&IDs, PFDs, specifications, equipment lists, vendor data sheets, control narratives, etc. The SME refines and organizes the source content for Technical Writers who are creating site-specific Operating Manuals.

The SME may also be required to conduct client storage and compression personnel interviews, including with Supervisors, Operators, and a variety of other roles as required to fill content gaps or to develop new content.


Additionally, as the Operating Manuals are being developed by the Innovatia Technical Writers, the SME performs reviews of the draft, preliminary, and final content for technical accuracy, flow, and appropriate level of detail for the intended audiences.

Responsibilities:


  • Analyzes technical source content (e.g., P&IDs, PFDs, specifications, equipment lists, vendor data sheets, control narratives, etc.).
  • Organizes and develops technical information for conciseness, accuracy, effectiveness, and eliminates nonessential content for intended audiences
  • Reads and interprets diagrams, schematic drawings, and related technical information to determine required O&M work instructions.
  • Advises Innovatia's Technical Writers of regulations and standards related to natural gas compression and storage systems to ensure the safety of all workers, the environment, and the equipment.
  • Identifies detailed cautions and warnings required for individual work instructions content being developed by Innovatia's Technical Writers
  • May be required, in conjunction with the client, to identify and develop maintenance strategies based on reliabilitycentered maintenance, conditionbased maintenance, and preventative maintenance concepts.
  • Facilitates working sessions with Innovatia Technical Writers and client SMEs, ensuring focus and timely outcomes.
  • Interfaces directly with multiple stakeholders within the client base.
  • Conducts business in a positive, professional manner and identifies process improvement opportunities to bring efficiencies to the client and existing and future projects.
  • Manages multiple information assets and delivery schedules in a dynamic environment.
  • Adheres to quality assurance practices prior to distributing information assets to the Technical Writers and the client.

Qualification:


  • Ability to travel to client USbased facilities if required.
  • Postsecondary education and/or natural gas storage and compression experience required.
  • Possesses 5 years or more of experience in natural gas storage and compression facilities; knowledge of glycol dehydration units, flare stacks, control valves, fuel gas systems, air systems, water systems, compressors, separators, scrubbers, exchangers, tanks, piping, etc.; and conducting and/or defining operating and maintenance (O&M) tasks.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of intended audiences (e.g., Storage and Compression Apprentices, Supervisors, Operators, etc.).
  • Technical aptitude with storage and compression facilities, including glycol dehydration units (e.g., systems, equipment, process controls, control narratives, etc.).
  • Experience with O&M manual content development and quality assurance best practices would be an asset.
  • Professional consulting skills and business acumen to interact with clients and SMEs, managing outcomes to negotiate a winwin for all involved.
  • Ability to identify risks, impacts, and mitigation strategies, and to clearly communicate such to the Project Manager and Lead Technical Writer.
  • Design and/or operating experience in natural gas storage and compression systems, equipment, and operating and maintenance routines.
  • Demonstrates the ability to understand, consolidate, organize, and refine technical source content.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and customer facing skills, and an aptitude for problemsolving.
  • Has experience working with remote team members, and using virtual communications technology.
