Activation Coordinator


POSITION STATUS:
Full Time - Temporary (8 weeks - Canada Summer Jobs) (Non-Union)


SCHEDULE: 35 hours per week (flexibility required as needed)

Activation Coordinator

Our mission is to provide care and opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality of life of those we serve. We are a highly motivated, collaborative team on a mission to improve the quality of life for those we serve. We take a person centered approach that aims to support and make a positive difference in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.


PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Planning and implementing a monthly community Congregate Dining Event, varying the theme/activity/food/visual and educational components each month, in connection to the theme
  • Leading a variety of physical activities each week
  • Leading Seniors in a variety of weekly activities including Bingo, Crafts and more
  • Offering a secondary activity option for those not interested in the main activity (access to the Wii, board games etc. in the Seniors' Lounge)
  • Settingup and cleaningup of daily morning coffee and tea for seniors (Seniors' kitchen)
  • Planning and leading monthly birthday party for seniors

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with Deaf Seniors would be an asset
  • Knowledge and experience working with the Deaf community would be an asset;
  • Knowledge and experience working within the Deaf community and fluency in ASL OR strong commitment to engage in professional development to build skill and knowledge in ASL, Deaf culture and supporting Deaf or hard of hearing individuals and their community
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • French language/LSQ an asset
Canada Summer Jobs Requirements

  • Must be within 15 to 30 years of age (as per Canada Summer Jobs requirements)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number
  • Must be able to commit to full 8 weeks at 35 hours per week
