Position Purpose:


  • Internally this role will be known as Real Estate Transaction Manager. This role will effectively plan, develop, and execute real estate transactions (dispositions, acquisitions, easements, licenses) within the assigned portfolio of projects to ensure ontime and onbudget delivery of projects outcomes.

What You Will Do:


  • Manage the assigned transactions from the initial duediligence through to completion, ensuring consistency with IO procedures.
  • Coordinate the development of business cases in support of assigned transactions; including the review of financial analysis and cash flow projections.
  • Serve as the first point of contact on the assigned transactions; take accountability for issues resolutions and problem solving. Escalate issues and propose viable solutions to the Director/VP as appropriate
  • Manage the retention of external consultants and advisors, including preparation of procurement documents, evaluation of proposals, and preparation of contract documents, in collaboration with the IO's legal and procurement teams.
  • Provide direction to external consultants regarding timing, outcomes, and quality of work.
  • Negotiate standard legal transaction documents with Broader Public Sector clients or thirdparty private purchasers or vendors.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and various internal and external stakeholder groups to proactively address challenges/risks for the assigned transactions.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries and communicate transaction status to the management, clients, and appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.

Who We're Looking For:


  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of real estate, with an emphasis on transactional experience in sales, easements, expropriations, or acquisitions.
  • History of work experience with public sector real estate or major landowners.
  • Postsecondary degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Urban Planning, or another related discipline; an appropriate real estate certification would be an asset (e.g. AACI, CCIM, SRWA, MCIP, RPP, PMP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of current real estate legislation and regulations.
  • Knowledge of commercial, industrial, residential, and/or institutional real estate as well as government and legislative processes related to real estate transactions would be an asset.
  • Solid experience in dealing with technical, legal and financial data and the ability to find positive solutions to complex issues and problems with a diverse group of public and private sector stakeholders.
  • Resultsoriented; strong organization and project management skills to deliver on objectives and respond to changing priorities.
  • Well developed analytical, problem solving, negotiating and influencing skills to successfully close real estate transactions and resolve issues.
  • Sound oral and written communications skills to prepare briefing notes, recommendations, and effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.

The salary range for this position is

$94,000 to $141,000 with a corresponding job level of P5.


Employment in the Real Estate Division is conditional upon obtaining security clearance through the Program & Policy Enablement Branch, Supply Chain Ontario of the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.
