Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly site inspection visits and issue inspection reports
  • Support site supervision in the implementation and management of the company Safety Program onsite.
  • Act as a safety resource to the Project Team and all workers on site by providing correct interpretation of the companies Safety Program policies and procedures, all applicable government regulations, and any clientspecific safety requirements.
  • Facilitate Monthly Health & Safety Committee Meetings
  • Support the development of OHS policies and programs
  • Responsible for ensuring OHS and sitespecific safety management plans are in place
  • Advise and instruct on various safetyrelated topics
  • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
  • Review existing OHS Manual and update according to legislation
  • Initiate and organize OHS training of employees as required
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claims
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management
  • Hold Quarterly Management Safety Meetings.
  • Set an exceptional safety example

Requirements:


  • Proven experience as safety officer
  • CSO Certification required
  • Have a minimum 5year experience in commercial and multi residential construction projects
  • Proven ability
  • In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g., WorkSafeBC) and procedures
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
  • Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Diligent with great attention to detail
  • Energetic, selfmotivated, creative, and especially positive outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety
  • Valid driver licence and reliable vehicle

Licence:

  • OFA 2 (preferred)
  • OFA 3 (preferred)

Salary:
$40.00-$50.00 per hour


Expected hours:
No less than 40 per week
