Your Opportunity

One Temporary (Up to 24 Months) Full Time Position.

Are you looking for valuable hands-on experience to develop critical skills for a career in the exciting world of Cyber Security?

Capital Power is currently seeking an innovative and motivated individual to join our IS Cyber Security team


Reporting to the Director, Cyber Security and Architecture, as the IS Associate - Cyber Security, you will support the operation of Capital Power's cyber security infrastructure.

This includes participating in daily operational tasks (including monitoring health, incident management, change management, patching, security reviews, and incident investigations, etc.) As the IS Associate - Cyber Security, you are expected to have strong documentation skills, attention to detail, effective time management, ability to set priorities and meet deadlines, great interpersonal skills, adherence to industry best practices, and understand what systems are critical to Capital Power.


You will contribute to our team by- Providing support services for IS Cyber Security and collaborating closely with our internal teams and managed service providers.- Supporting sophisticated and diverse set of cyber security hardware, services, and processes for multiple business areas.- Ensuring team provides highly adaptable and customer-focused support services for all Capital Power business units, including support for the Service Desk.- Participating in appropriate security reviews for key systems and vendors.- Providing support services that meets outlined "Service Level Agreements" in this highly sophisticated environment.- Providing input into decisions within the cyber security team - ensuring standard methodology is followed.- Participating in the investigation and resolution of cyber security events.

What you will bring to the role


Education:


  • Diploma/Degree in Computing Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems.
  • Enrollment in or recent completion of the NAIT Cybersecurity Post Diploma Certificate Program will be an asset.

Experience:


  • Experience with Operating Systems, TCP/IP networks and basic Cybersecurity concepts.
  • Experience working in a corporate environment as a member of a team would be an asset but not a requirement.

Technical Skills:

  • Common networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS and TLS.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Domains.
  • Experience with scripting is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of cloud services and data governance as it relates to cyber security.
  • Selfmotivated, organized, customer focused, detailoriented, and effective communicator.
  • Problem solving, results driven and actionoriented when working on assigned tasks.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Office/Work from home position.
