    Description

    Responsibilities:

  • Provide Patient-centered quality care in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Must maintain patient confidentiality and integrity policy on all matters involving KEI.
  • Must assess, evaluate and accurately record patient pre and postoperative status.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Sets up and assists with all surgical procedures.
  • Pay strict attention to the work of the operating field and anticipate needs of team.
  • Demonstrates care and handling of surgical instruments per facility policies.
  • Scrubs and assist surgeon during the surgical procedures in such a manner so that their attention is not diverted from the operative field.
  • Being accountable for one's decision and professional practice.
  • Observes strict sterile/aseptic techniques throughout the entire procedure and reports any breaks in technique to the circulating nurses and the surgeon.
  • Good communication skills of English both in verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

    • Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills is a must.

    • Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience in Ophthalmology is preferred.
  • Experience in scrubbing techniques in an OR preferred.
  • Knowledge of the ORNAC standards.
  • Continuous preoperative clinical development/competency.
  • Evidence of good working ethic and an excellent attendance record.

    • Required Professional Designation/Certificate:

  • Current Operating Room Certification.
  • Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS mandatory, ACLS asset.
  • Membership in local professional associations.
  • Estonian Relief Committee of Canada
