Reporting to the Manager, the Secretary provides administrative support to MSK Assessors and Advanced Practice Leaders (APL), primarily in the processing of referrals and scheduling of appointments.

The Secretary coordinates and maintains an efficient schedule for each Assessor and APL.

The Secretary serves as a link between the Manager and the front-line team by providing accessible, timely support and expertise to the team and providing feedback to the Manager.


Temporary Full-Time

Rate of Pay:
$ $26.98 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of a two year diploma in medical office administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the Hospital
  • Minimum one year recent, related experience
  • Recent experience working in an office with multiple clinicians is preferred
  • Demonstrated proficient dictatyping skills
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Powerchart, Cerner and Acuity Star) and database management
  • Demonstrated understanding of OHIP principles to process patient referrals
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in a setting of multiple and competing priorities
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and to work independently
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to effectively communicate professionally (both verbal and written) with all staff, patients, and their families
  • Ability to identify and bring forward to the physician(s) issues, items, and concerns
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other Medical Secretaries within the Division.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and be empathetic and sensitive to patient needs
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose, and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
