Program Overview
The JVS Toronto
Employment Source office, funded by MLITSD, provides a range of employment services (information and referral, one-on-one employment counselling, employment workshops, job development/placement services) to unemployed individuals of all ages, financial backgrounds and skills to help them gain employment within their field or a related field.
We're looking for someone who will:
- Register clients for a variety of workshops, make reminder calls to and assist clients
- Compile new and updated materials for clients in the Resource Centre
- Provide reception relief and coverage: answer telephones efficiently and accurately; transfer calls to appropriate staff/extension, greet clients
- Assist the Employment Counsellors with conducting client follow up to determine program outcomes
- Assist clients in the Resource Center, organize library and update resource material
- Provide clerical support, type resumes, format documents, set up tracking sheets, enter and maintain meticulous data records
- Organize filing room and archive client files
- Assist other JVS Toronto locations remotely if needed
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Enrolled in, or a graduate of a postsecondary social services or healthcare program
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Computer literate in software used by the agency (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- A clear Police Vulnerable Sector check is required for this position
Under the terms of our government funding, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
- Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations;
- Hold a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment
- Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
