    Position Description

    The Infancy and Early Childhood Program is seeking an Occupational Therapist. Reporting to the Manager, Early Years Program, the Occupational Therapist works as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide occupational therapy services to children to enhance self-care, leisure and productivity skills, independent skills, and quality of life.

    Main Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, consultation and service planning for infants and young children with autism and/or developmental disabilities using a consultative and/or parent coaching model
  • Provide educational services to the public, students, staff and other professionals and agencies to support individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to students
  • Program and service development and evaluation for OT services
  • Other duties as required
  • Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent in occupational therapy
  • Member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and/or fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and their families
  • Knowledge of motor and cognitive development, sensory processing and self-regulation
  • Knowledge of and experience applying occupational therapy theories and models
  • Experience administering and interpreting standardized and non-standardized assessments
  • Experience in setting goals, creating and implementing occupational therapy interventions using a consultative model
  • 1 year minimum experience working with infants and young children
  • Experience working on an interdisciplinary team is considered an asset
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector Screening), and proof of being fully vaccinated for Covid-19
  • Fluency in French or another language is considered an asset.)
