Assistant Controller (12-Month Contract)

Chatham-Kent, ON | Manufacturing | Onsite Preferred

$36–$46/hour (based on experience)

Start: Early 2026

We're looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team on a 12-month contract to support a maternity leave.

This isn't a "keep the seat warm" role.

You'll be stepping into a key finance position during an important period of integration and operational improvement. If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, tightening processes, and partnering with operations in a manufacturing environment. This is a high-impact opportunity.

We're ideally looking for someone local to the Chatham-Kent area, as there's a strong preference for onsite collaboration.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work closely with the Controller and broader leadership team to support:

Month-End & Financial Reporting

• Journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Preparation of financial statements in line with GAAP
• Maintaining general ledger integrity and intercompany transactions
• Supporting audit processes

Internal Controls & Process Improvements

• Strengthening internal controls
• Refining SOPs and documentation
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and corporate policies
• Helping integrate newly acquired entities into financial systems

Manufacturing Finance Support

• Partnering with operations on inventory and cost accounting
• Supporting margin improvement and cost optimization initiatives
• Assisting with ERP upgrades and process automation projects
• Collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, IT, and Procurement

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• CPA (active, in progress, or inactive)
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Manufacturing or industrial experience strongly preferred
• Strong Excel skills and ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls
• Experience with system migrations or mid-market ERPs like SAP Business One is a plus.
