Description

Hospitality Coordinator (HC) - Full-Time King's Students' Union

6350 Coburg Road

Halifax, NS

Description of Position

The King's Students' Union (KSU) is an organization representing more than 1000 students on King's campus in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The KSU offers a number of services to its membership, including two businesses committed to ethical purchasing (the HMCS King's Wardroom bar and King's Galley café), sexual health products, and a Health & Dental plan.

The Wardroom and Galley operate in a space that gathers King's students, faculty, staff, and alumni in community. The Wardroom bar is the only wet/dry bar operation in the province of Nova Scotia. This makes it an inclusive social space for the entire King's community, including underage students.

The Wardroom is proud to offer some of the cheapest local drinks in the city and serves a variety of seasonal craft beers and cocktails.

During the day the King's Galley sells locally-sourced food (specializing in grilled cheese sandwiches) and beverages, and the Wardroom space functions as a student lounge and study space.

The primary aim of both businesses is to provide a financially accessible, locally sourced food and beverage service to the KSU membership, and to do so while catering to a variety of dietary restrictions.

Both businesses receive their direction from the student population via the KSU.

The Hospitalities Coordinator (HC) is responsible for the supervision and administrative work of the Wardroom and Galley businesses.

The HC is responsible for the financial reporting, payroll, and budgeting of both businesses, as well as for the supervision of the General Managers and Supervisors, and for the general operation of both businesses.

The HC works closely with the General Managers to make and receive orders for both businesses.

The Hospitalities Coordinator is supervised by the KSU President.

The HC also interacts on a daily basis with students, faculty, and staff members around the University, as well as Wardroom, Galley, and KSU employees.
