New Afton Mine
Situated 10 kilometers west of picturesque Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Position Reports To:
Environmental Superintendent
Position Overview
This position will be an integral component of the environmental team in providing technical knowledge, environmental leadership, and operational support for the New Afton Mine.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical oversite of the geochemistry monitoring program, including data analysis and supervision of field programs and the Metal Leaching and Acid Rock Drainage Management Plan;
Working in a team environment to maintain general environmental risk management across mining, processing and maintenance operational departments;
Integrate with the site team to support the site Environmental Management System (ISO 14001 and Towards Sustainable Mining based), inclusive of environmental leadership and operational inspections;
Facilitate compilation of annual regulatory reports;
Experience in data interpretation and technical report writing;
Remain current with technical advancements and integrate continual improvement into operation risk management;
Support for ongoing permitting projects;
Other responsibilities as per the business requirement.
Qualifications:
A degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sciences or relevant discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience in mining industry is considered an asset
Analysis of environmental monitoring data
Understanding and experience in implementation of geochemical monitoring programs.
Operational risk management experience, including implementation of an Environmental Management System (i.e. ISO and Towards Sustainable Mining protocols
Registration with a professional organization (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., RP.Bio) or eligibility to register within next 12-24 months
Strong communication skills; ability to relay complex technical information to various stakeholders.
