Drake Excavating Ltd. is a civil works contractor located in Maple Ridge currently serving western BC. We offer a diverse resume, excelling in projects that involve 'outside the box' thinking. Maintaining a dedicated and skilled team has allowed us to successfully execute highly complex projects, some involving isolation, bypass pumping, dewatering, phased construction, technical tie-ins, and difficult access.

We are currently looking for a Pipe Layer with experience in all types of utility construction and installations; sanitary, storm, water, communications, and hydro.

Reporting to the site foreman, this position will have the following day-to-day expectations:

Work with the Foreman and other team members to interpret drawings and specifications
Participate in FLHA's and toolbox meetings
Work safely and promote a safe work environment
Work with pipe lasers, grade rods and other survey equipment
Installation of storm sewer and sanitary sewer online and grade
Install manholes, catch basins and lawn basins
Installation of watermain, valves, fittings and hydrants
Installation of electrical and communications infrastructure
Cut and bevel pipe
Assemble and install trench shielding / shoring
Work with excavation and compaction equipment
Maintain company tools and ensure preparations are made for following day of work
Perform labour duties as assigned

The right qualifications for this position will include:

Minimum of two (2) years civil pipe laying experience
Complete understanding of typical industrystandard safe working procedures, especially around trenches and heavy equipment
Knowledge and understanding of sewer, water, and communications pipe and fittings
Must be reliable, dependable, with a good standing attendance record
Ability to withstand a physically demanding role in all weather elements
Good communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a team member and equally motivated working independently
Attention to detail and desire to provide highquality workmanship right the first time
Adhere to the company's Health and Safety Program
A willingness to assist other positions involved in the project when needed
Valid BC driver's licence and reliable transportation
