Job Summary


The Department of Physical Therapy is growing The Department provides the only provincial program for the education of entry-to-practice physical therapists.

Through rigorous scholarly activity, high standards of instruction and creative opportunities for learning, the Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) program provides a strong foundation that supports the current and future practice of the profession.

The Department is also a research-intensive unit with award winning faculty conducting state-of-the art healthcare research.

As part of the commitment to provide innovative clinical placement opportunities, the department operates the student
- led Physical Therapy and Research Clinic (PTRC). The PTRC Clinic Manager will manage the day-to-day operations for the clinic including: administration, clinician and student scheduling, and billing. The position will provide training and mentorship to a rotating set of student physiotherapists in the administrative operations of the clinic. The PTRC Clinic Manager will contribute to and support the Associate Head, Clinical Education, the Steering and Advisory Committee and PTRC physiotherapists in determining strategic partnerships, referrals and marketing priorities. The position will collaboratively design and implement initiatives to achieve the clinic's goals. The Clinic Manager will process, monitor and compile financial and caseload reports to help inform priorities, marketing needs, and to report on clinic performance.

Organizational Status


The Physical Therapy and Research Clinic (PTRC) is a student-led, fee-for-service physical therapy clinic operating in the Department of Physical Therapy.

The PTRC offers quality clinical education opportunities for students in the Master of Physical Therapy Program.

The PTRC offers physiotherapy services covering a wide variety of client needs, supports interprofessional practice, and provides a venue for Departmental research.

The PTRC Clinic Manager will report directly to Director of Administration, Department of Physical Therapy and work in consultation with the Department Head, the Associate Head, Clinical Education and the MPT Clinical Education team

Work Performed

Day to Day Operations

  • Works with a team of PTRC Physical Therapists, MPT Students and external partners, to understand and support the administrative needs of clients, clinic partners (including researchers, referral sources, program partners), student physiotherapists, and external funders.
  • Provides training and mentorship to student physiotherapists in the administration of the PTRC, including reception, scheduling, booking, billing, records keeping, maintaining confidentiality, inventory, and maintaining clinical and reception areas.
  • Manages the appointment booking system, clinician and student schedules, and ensures the timely and smooth flow of patients. Liaises with other clinical offices and research labs to coordinate bookings for clients and research participants.
  • Ensures the clinic operates effectively and efficiently. Identifies areas for improvements and initiates solutions.
  • Writes and maintains clinic operational manuals, procedures, and checklists.
  • Works with the Department's Communications staff, to create and implement a marketing and communications plan for the PTRC.
  • Ensures confidential patient diagnostic reports and medical records are handled appropriately and with strict confidentiality.
  • Compiling student placement and preceptor information and needs as requested.
