Employment Type:
Temporary contract, 35 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities:

We encourage highly motivated and enthusiastic summer students to join our team as Program Support Workers in the

Halifax Regional Office (HRO). As a Program Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting specific programs and services.

Your core activities and responsibilities will include:

Client Services:
As a Program Support Worker you will be responsible for maintaining professional communication with clients. You will be interacting with clients on behalf of the employer while at work. This includes answering client inquiries, providing information about services, completing client intakes, assessments and scheduling appointments.


Teamwork:
You will be expected to collaborate effectively with other team members.

This involves working with others in pairs or small and large groups to coordinate tasks, share resources, plan, make decisions, negotiate, solve conflicts, and complete other activities that require teamwork.

You will be required to work collaboratively with other JHS staff, and program coordinators.

Attending community network meetings.


Administrative or Indirect Client Support Tasks:As a Program Support Worker, you may be required to complete various administrative tasks, such as maintaining client files, data entry, and record-keeping. You may also be required to support clients indirectly by organizing and delivering care packages.


Case Management:
This would include collaborating with and referring clients to neighboring community-based agencies, referring clients to appropriate agencies. Maintaining client records and reporting duties for client files.


Accompaniment Tasks:

You may be required to help clients attend ID appointments or other accompaniment tasks like setting up bank accounts, as needed.

You may also be required to complete NA/Consent forms with clients over the phone or in person with drop-ins.


New Community Workplace Program (CWP):You may be required to help gain new CWP placements, which involves working with potential employers, conducting research, and preparing resumes.


Research & Connections:
You may be required to conduct general research and make connections to other organizations, as directed by your supervisor.


Outreach:

You may be required to work out of a designated public space for a morning or afternoon a week, conducting outreach activities to promote our services and programs.


As the Program Support Worker, you will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills, maintain professional relationships with clients, complete administrative tasks accurately and efficiently, and work collaboratively with other team members to provide effective support to clients.

It will be equally important to maintain a space that is welcoming, polite and safe for diverse clientele.


Travel:
The position requires frequent travel throughout HRM and periodic travel beyond HRM. Approved travel for work purposes is compensated at standard JHSNS mileage rate.


Experience & Qualifications:


Entering or returning to full time post-secondary studies in the coming fall school semester OR between 19 and 30 years of age at the beginning of work term and recently completed post-secondary studies.

A permanent resident of Nova Scotia OR has lived in NS for at least six months prior
