WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Provides strategic direction and leadership in a multi-faceted organization to unionized
and non-unionized staff who deliver direct services to all Board facilities in the areas of custodial services, maintenance services, design and construction services, sustainability, environmental and energy management, as well as facility security.
Ensures effective and efficient capital asset management through planning, implementation and management of capital activities related to new construction, renovation and renewal of Board facilities.

Manages the daily operations of direct service provision to all Board facilities including custodial, maintenance, design and construction, energy and environmental management and security by designing and implementing appropriate work processes for custodial, maintenance and environment operations, including continually reviewing actual service delivery against predetermined standards, actively engaging in quality assessment, innovation and continuous improvement programs aimed at overall efficiency and effectiveness, completing provincial accountability framework documents, on site assessments and operations and assisting in risk management by overseeing environmental assessment abatement programs, life safety systems, play structures and drawing management systems.
Provides comprehensive leadership and management oversight of the department and staff, including organizational design and development, recruitment and selection, orientation and training, health and safety, establishing performance expectations, directing work (flow), performance management, up to and including recommendation for termination, as well as promoting effective employee relations with the goal of ensuring optimal service delivery and asset management.
Develops, presents and manages the department's annual operating and capital budgets, including determining and advising of any impact that provincial funding may have on service delivery; developing and implementing performance assessment strategies and ensuring overall financial accountability.
Assists the Director and Senior Staff in the Board-wide strategic planning process, including identifying site/area specific strategic issues; developing appropriate action plans to address identified issues and establishing target dates for resolution.
Coordinates and manages design and construction services as well as energy and environmental management services through the deployment of both facilities renewal and utilities dollars, prioritization of work projects and monitoring of all work to ensure it is completed within timelines, within budget requirements and within all applicable codes/regulations.
Liaises with staff, municipalities and other public and private organizations, including ensuring the Superintendent of Business is fully informed on plant issues; acting as a resource for Trustees, the Director and Senior staff on matters relating to issues of concerns regarding facilities maintenance, care, environmental/energy conservation and construction.
Assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
