Our Vancouver office is set to reopen soon, and our vision is to design a fresh and invigorating hybrid office space for our Benchmates to connect & collaborate.

It's a really exciting time to join this team - the way people like to work has evolved in front of our eyes and we get to build a workplace that empowers this shift towards personalized and flexible working arrangements.


As the Facilities Specialist at Bench, you're responsible for our Benchmates daily workspace experience, and you bring your best game.

Everyday.

You're known as someone ready to help at a minute's notice, and you look for opportunities to add thoughtful touches.

You're the reason our physical space runs smoothly, and with ease. You'll play a pivotal role in welcoming Benchmates and guests to our Vancouver office.

You are based at our front reception area, however the whole space is under your ward and you will likely find yourself up and about most of the day.


What you'll get up to:


  • Being our goto person in the Vancouver office:
  • Partnering with Telus Gardens building management and security.
  • Relationship management with our sublet tenants on the 2nd & 5th floor.
  • Assisting with seating plan design and optimization for our Benchmates experience.
  • Being the first face our Benchmates & visitors see at the office.
  • Partnering with the City of Vancouver to ensure we have all our i's dotted and t's crossed.
  • Fielding environment requests/concerns from our Benchmates and seamlessly executing as requested.
  • Completing small physical space repairs (change light bulbs, painting, etc.)
  • Managing the office security systems including overseeing building access administration, camera systems, alarm codes etc.
  • Organizing and maintaining Bench stock and storage rooms, including managing inventory for spare parts.
  • Being the primary contact for the janitorial team to ensure we have the cleaning resources to keep our space spotless.
  • Managing the meeting room booking system and calendars.
  • Communicating with building management and subcontractors to manage needs and requests.
  • Managing the Bench health & safety program; providing first aid support, leading monthly health & safety inspections and emergency preparedness.
  • Continuous improvement. We are going to learn a lot about how our Benchmates want to work in a postpandemic world. You'll listen to our people regularly and adapt our space in real time.

What you need:

Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. You will need to move deliveries, such as IT equipment, from our reception area and sometimes shift some furniture around.

Living within a commutable distance to our office at 545 Robson Street. You will be working in office 5 days a week.

Strong attention to detail:you get that the details _really_ matter. You're known as someone who catches the small but important detail errors.

Prioritization champion :You're highly organized and know that prioritization and reprioritization are key to delivering in a fast paced and ever changing start-up environment.

You're resilient: You are comfortable with changing priorities and are willing to get stuck in to help wherever and whenever needed if it helps us make a difference for our Benchmates.
