Black Mentorship Inc (BMI) is dedicated to empowering Black Professionals in Canada.

BMI fosters leadership by connecting Black youths, professionals, and entrepreneurs at different stages of professional growth with industry experts through a unique mentoring program.

BMI exists to elevate professional advancement through mentorship, education, and skills-building, thus building a better, more equitable workforce.

The mentorship program aims to bridge the gap and mentor access experienced within the Black and BIPOC professional community.

BMI is dedicated to addressing these challenges by providing an inclusive mentorship program to foster the growth, empowerment, and career development of Black people.

BMI provides education, skill building, resources, networking, and strong community support to enable participants to achieve their definition of success, eradicating systemic barriers and thus, creating diverse leaders.


Job Summary

Responsibilities:


  • Plan, develop, and help execute the BMI projects and mentorship workshops.
  • Assist with project activities and organize information sessions for mentees/mentors
  • Develops work plans, timelines, goals and objectives for projects and ongoing programs
  • Participate in recruiting mentors with diverse professional backgrounds and mentees from the Halton Black Community and onboarding volunteers
  • Identify mentoring best practices that ensure performance indicators are attained
  • Create program presentations; compile and develop documentation upon completion of activities
  • Coordinate all phases of mentoring workshops, including research, consultations, training, and evaluations
  • Support the program delivery to ensure the program quality meets program goals, key activities, specific targets/objectives and evaluation
  • Assist the program team in everyday tasks, including administrative and content creation
  • Assist in the BMI's programrelated functions as required

Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree in Project Management.
  • Previous project coordinators' role and operational experience required, preferably supporting and/or interacting with senior leaders and executives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive and with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Suite of Office and Microsoft Excel software.
  • Highly adaptable and comfortable with shifting demands.
  • Familiarity with social media canvassing and branding.

Key Requirements:


  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong Verbal communication skills.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal skills and knowledge of project management principles, including scoping, planning and budgeting.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Social media canvassing and branding would be considered an asset.
