    What You Will Do

    Reporting to the Senior Planner, Procedures and System Development you will assist in short, medium and long-term ridership forecasting to support policy and infrastructure development using analytical techniques and forecasting tools, including demand forecasting models. To this end, you will analyze the ridership impacts resulting from proposals for service and budget changes and undertake geographical and statistical analyses of TTC ridership and operational data. You will also co-ordinate the collection and validation of travel survey data including participation in the design, organizing, and undertaking of the surveys. You will develop and maintain customer information and behavioural databases from surveys and other data sources and support validation of procedures and software to improve accuracy and efficiency of data processes and analytics workflow. Represent Service Planning on technical committees as related to duties and prepare internal documentation, reports, and letters concerning service planning matters as required. You will also, undertake special projects as required to provide assistance to the professional staff within the Strategy and Customer Experience Group.

    What Qualifications Do You Bring?

    • Your education background will consist of completion a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
    • Good knowledge of modelling theory and experience working with transport demand models
    • Experience working with ESRI Geographic Information Systems (GIS) platform
    • Be proficient in the use of a computer especially working with large databases.
    • Good knowledge of data collection and analysis techniques including experience with travel survey data collection procedures
    • Experience working with standard software packages for the processing and analysis of the data and related databases, such as Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerBI, Microstrategy, R, etc., is an asset.
    • Scripting and programming capabilities for customized applications, such as Microsoft Excel VBA, SQL, Python, etc., is an asset.
    • Must be able to work independently and possess good organization skills to meet required deadlines
    • Sound judgement, superior analytical and problems solving abilities, and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for dealing with staff at various levels
    • Proven track record of verbally and visually presenting findings and results to executive-level audience
