Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient
- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview:


Under the general direction of the Manager of Volunteer Services, the incumbent is responsible for establishing the NICU Veteran Parent Program including: accessing, listing and establishing a database of volunteer parents; coordinating an orientation and training program for parents; acting as the contact person for the program; developing a process for ongoing operation of the program; ongoing evaluation of the program; and conducting ongoing needs assessment of parents in the NICU.


Experience:


  • 3 years related experience including: recruitment, interviewing, screening problemsolving, supervising, orientation and training, program planning, effective relationships with volunteers, implementing formal and informal recognition, awareness of current trends and issues in volunteer management.
  • Experience understanding the dynamics of parenting and empathy for families undergoing hospital experiences with their child.
  • Previous experience as a volunteer required.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently using project management techniques to handle multiple projects, collaborating as a strong team member.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Postsecondary education plus recognized training in Volunteer Management preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Active Manitoba Association for Volunteer Administration (MAVA) member preferred.
  • Canadian Administrators of Volunteer Resources (CAVR) membership preferred.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint and Outlook required.
  • Knowledge of Logistics (or volunteer management) software a definite asset.
  • Detailoriented and able to work collaboratively in a fastpaced environment.
  • Must have demonstrated innovation and creativity skills in the form of continuous improvement of internal processes.
  • Must have excellent English communication skills, both oral, and written.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills including presentation and public speaking skills. Accuracy in grammar, spelling and punctuation is imperative.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills including the ability to receive and relay precise personal information.
  • Must have, or be able to acquire within a reasonable period of time, a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and regulations applicable to the area of supervision.
