Detailed Overview:

Responsibilities:


  • Coordinates the implementation of new/revised modules, enhancements for designated systems and/or areas. Maintains project schedules and works with appropriate personnel to ensure data and tables are updated to meet operational requirements. Liaises with Coordinators, Clinical and/or Distribution Pharmacy Services and Information Systems personnel and vendors at various locations on related issues.
  • Acts as the primary contact for other departments and agencies such as the Information Management and Information Systems Shared Service (IMIS), Facilities Management regarding issues related to the installation of and difficulties with department computer hardware and software.
  • Participates in developing new policies and procedures related to pharmacy information systems and related information/process flow changes resulting from the introduction of new systems. Reviews requirements for new and/or updated policies and procedures, prepares recommendations and communicates approved changes to team members.
  • Participates in quality improvement and risk management activities related to assigned areas and services. Selects outcome measures, evaluates effect of changes in client centered care practice and makes recommendations to ensure client care/services are provided in the most efficient and effective manner. Investigates and resolves complaints.
  • Maintains and monitors a variety of statistical information and quality assurance audits to enable data integrity; gathers pertinent information records into approved formats and forwards to others for review.
  • Participates in staff meetings, committees and other programs as required; identifies opportunities to improve processes and/or procedures to enable safe and efficient operations and refers to supervisor and/or others.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
:
Education and Experience

Current registration as a Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.

Five (5) years' recent, hospital pharmacy experience including a minimum of two (2) years' experience working with hospital Pharmacy Information Systems or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Skills and Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care.
  • Broad knowledge of Patient Care Information Systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of drug distribution processes in a hospital setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to make presentations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others health are practitioners.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, implement, problemsolve and manage projects.
  • Ability to effectively lead and coordinate project teams, pharmacists, technicians, assistants and students.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
