Radiant Care Tabor Manor

Nutrition Manager

Full-Time Permanent

Position Summary


Reporting to the Senior Administrator Long Term Care, the Nutrition Manager manages all aspects of dietary, and housekeeping and laundry within the Radiant Care Tabor Manor to meet the nutritional and care needs of the residents/tenants and to ensure the effective and efficient preparation and delivery of food and housekeeping and laundry services to the residents/tenants within legislative and budgetary constraints.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Completion of twoyear community college Nutrition and Food Service Management diploma
  • Completion of a relevant trade
  • Membership, or eligible membership, in the Canadian Food Service Supervisors Association
  • 35 years' experience
  • Supervisory skills required to manage staff and resources
  • Human relations skills required to handle a variety of interactions with all stakeholders of the Radiant Care home, (i.e., Board and liaison members, families, residents/tenants, volunteers, staff, and constituents of the Mennonite community)
  • Cultural sensitivity to the German Mennonite heritage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/ Sector Screening (VPS)
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, directs and supervises the activities of the Food Services Department to provide high quality food service. Establishes and monitors work flow, evaluates performance and production and makes changes, where necessary, to improve quality of service. Coordinates dietary activities with those of other departments. Informs Director of activities, needs, and problems
  • In cooperation with the Resident's Council, determines resident's preferences and plans regular and therapeutic cyclical menus for approval by the Ministry
  • Maintains and upholds all resident/tenant rights and maintains exemplary relations with all residents/tenants
  • Ensures food is prepared in accordance with health timelines, including administering regular testing for quality assurance, (e.g., temperature, taste testing, etc.)
  • Maintains all required records, such as invoices, reports in accordance with policies
  • Orders and receives food and kitchen supplies with budget, and monitors inventory, control of supplies, paper products and linen
  • Performs duties, as needed in the department, to facilitate the food services operations. Ensures the philosophy of care at Radiant Care is carried out in all maintenance and housekeeping/laundry service programs
  • Manages all aspects of housekeeping/laundry service
  • Develops and implements staff work schedules in a fair and equitable manner and in a timely fashion. Staff schedules shall be posted one month prior to effective date
  • Assess and prepare payroll records biweekly and delivers them to Payroll Department
  • Involves staff and participates in regular meetings with departmental staff, takes minutes and ensures the final copy is sent to the Senior Administrator
  • Works with nursing staff in establishing linen inventories,/quotas for nursing units
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the housekeeping and laundry services
  • Completes resident quarterlies
  • Participates in and is a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Works in cooperation with a Registered Dietician
  • Attends seminars, courses, conventions in consultation with the Senior Administrator
  • Liaises with outside service contractors and inspectors to assure equipment and environment conform with applicable codes and regulations
  • Consults and works cooperatively with inspectors, compliance advisors, and other external authorities in relation to resident/tenant care needs
