Position Overview
We are seeking a Field / service Operations Manager with a strong heavy trade background (Millwright, Heavy Equipment Technician, Industrial Mechanic, machining, etc.) who can both lead and step onto the tools when required.
This is not a desk-only role.
You will be responsible for:
- Organizing manpower
- Planning and managing field projects
- Ensuring jobs are prepared and executed properly
- Maintaining quality standards
- Supporting technicians in the field
- Driving accountability and efficiency
The right candidate can command respect from tradespeople because they've done the work themselves.
Key Responsibilities
Field & Project Management
- Schedule and assign technicians
- Plan job execution (tools, parts, scope clarity)
- Conduct job kickoffs and closeouts
- Ensure work meets safety and quality standards
- Reduce call-backs and repeat issues
Technical Leadership
- Provide on-site support when required
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Step onto the tools during peak demand or complex work
- Mentor and develop technicians
Operational Oversight
- Review job costing and labor efficiency
- Monitor parts usage and inventory accuracy
- Ensure billing packages are complete and submitted promptly
- Improve organization of trucks, shop, and field prep
Continuous Improvement
- Identify process gaps and inefficiencies
- Implement practical, field-driven improvements
- Maintain strong communication between office and field team
Qualifications
- 10+ years in a heavy trade (Millwright preferred)
- Experience in industrial service or equipment installation
- Strong troubleshooting ability (mechanical, hydraulic, basic electrical)
