OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Support Program Manager the Support Work Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision and oversight of the Support Workers in the Support Worker Program, including orientation, training, development, and adherence to CFS standards and legislation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assists Human Resources with the recruiting, interviewing, and orientating of new Support Workers on an ongoing basis.
- Ensures Support Workers comply with Program directives and goals and manages a performance evaluation process.
- Provides regular mentoring and guidance to Support Workers with ongoing feedback using a strengthbased approach.
- Assists in creating procedures for Support Workers while carrying out their assignments.
- Identify training and professional development needs for Support Workers and facilitate a monthly training session for Support Workers, and tracks participation for evaluation reports.
- Review, correct and approve timesheets, mileage, and contract submissions with Support Workers, and forward to finance by set financial cycles.
- Ensure typed case notes and incident reports accompany all Support Worker submissions, forwarding financials to the finance department and case notes to the Support Worker Coordinators for review on an ongoing basis.
- Manage support staff personnel files and develop alerts for upcoming expired checks.
- Record performance reports and any disciplinary steps taken and have ready for HR if requested.
- Create, and revise forms or templates as necessary as the Support Worker Program evolves and grows.
- Complete monthly program updates and statistics for Program Manager
- Participate and assist in Recruiting presentations when required at Venues, schools, and colleges.
- Provide coverage and assistance to Support Worker Coordinators from time to time depending on caseloads.
- Participate in an oncall rotation schedule for Support Workers to call for directions after office hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Social Work or Secondary degree with 3+ years relevant professional experience in the Social Services field
- Must have a Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in managing a team.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, word processing (MS Word), Spreadsheets (Excel), Email (Outlook) and Internet.
- Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and of Bill-C9
- Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize conflicting duties and build professional working relationships with staff, collaterals, and stake holders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fastpaced environment with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Successful applicant(s) will also be required to provide proof of COVID19 vaccination prior to start date.
- Must have a valid Manitoba driver's license and reliable transport.
- Must have a current satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), and Prior Contact Check as conditions of employment. (This does not necessarily mean you will not be eligible to work for SAI).
