If so, look no furtherThe Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) is seeking an individual to fill a parental leave to be the Manager, Policy and Professional Development.

Reporting to the Vice President, Membership, Policy and Professional Development, the successful individual will play an important role to craft educational content and policies for a vibrant and growing sector.


SUMMARY


The Manager, Policy and Professional Development is responsible for supporting the expansion of ORCA education, e-learning and policy development, event programming and implementation for member compliance of provincial regulations, as well as tools and education for operational effectiveness and professional development.

This includes all aspects of education and resources, educational programs and events, assessments and resources to enhance and ensure quality programs and learnings offered.

The role also supports member communication, stakeholder relations and advocacy efforts as applicable.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Policy

  • Support the creation and maintenance of policy templates and toolkits that meet legislative requirements and address best practices
  • Work with Manager, Government Relations, to flag and communicate proposed and impending legislative changes impacting the sector
  • Provide member support, disseminating legislation and sector best practices
  • Liaise with provincial bodies and retirement homes regulator, communicating guidelines and clarifications to the sector
  • Oversee online policy document management system and provide navigational support to operators
  • Provide staff support for Operations Committee, Advisory groups and ad hoc groups including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes

Assessment/Consulting

  • Manage ORCA's Operational Effectiveness and Compliance Program
  • Support all program logistics from inquiries, to booking, to postassessment support
  • Support ORCA Educators including recruitment, orientation, renewals and training, etc.
  • Support promotion of program to ensure continued uptake by homes
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of ORCA standards and Operational Effectiveness and Compliance tool

Events

  • Support all aspects of ORCA events in collaboration with the Events Team
  • Develop educational programming for all ORCA events with Events Team
  • Act as point of contact for speakers/facilitators from planning through to dayof support and followup
  • Assist with development of promotional material for all ORCA events
  • Assist with budget forecasting, tracking and monitoring

The Learning Centre

  • Assist with the development, implementation and execution of member educational resources, including webinars and tutorials
  • Work with Senior Manager, Learning Technology to ensure consistency across webinars, tutorials, policies, toolkits, standards, etc.

Association Initiatives

  • Support new and ongoing initiatives that enhance the sector and address evolving issues
  • Support various aspects of initiative work, including resource creation, information dissemination, committee/taskforce staff support, etc.

Miscellaneous

  • Perform other duties to support the success of ORCA CORE

COMPENTENCIES/REQUIREMENTS

  • A university degree, college diploma or equivalent experience in healthcare education, policy development and/or event planning preferred
  • Experience in a Retirement setting, or knowledge of seniors' housing legislation/seniors' issues preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet concurrent deadlines
  • Ability to be nimble and flexible
  • Ability to work on a high functioning and diverse team
  • Ability to contribute in a positive manner to ORCA Team
  • Ability to interact with Committee members and foster strategic partnerships
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to members
  • Valid driver's license and access to a car

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Professional office, hybrid work environment in Oakville (2 days/week in office)
  • Office location is near the GO Station
  • Travel and attendance at ORCA events
  • Salary starts at $69,600 + 5% bonus (based on performance and Association's financial outcomes)
  • Health and Dental benefits and matching RRSP of up to a maximum of 4 per cent of base salary.
