Primary function:


This role will play a pivotal part in managing the administration of LAO's newly enrolled Defined Benefit pension plan (OPSEU Pension Plan and the Public Service Pension Plan) while also providing support in benefits administration.

Director, Human Resources


Key accountabilities:


Oversee the entire pension administration process for over 1100 employees, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Liaise and collaborate with the Ontario Pension Board and OPTrust on a regular basis, ensuring accurate and timely processing of pension-related transactions.

Manage the day-to-day operations of both pension plans, using the Employer Portals to process enrollments, leaves of absence, and terminations/retirements, along with the submission of required documents.

Encourage completion of documentation for employee benefits/pension enrolment and re-enrolment, and following up as required.

Resolve any data discrepancies in coordination with Payroll.

Serve as the primary point of contact for pension-related inquiries from employees, retirees, and external partners (OPTrust, Ontario Pension Board).

Assist in benefits administration tasks, and serve as a primary point of contact for benefits related inquiries.

Support in the development and implementation of employee communication strategies related to pension and benefits programs.


Required skills & experience:


Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or combined combination of education and experience).

Two to three years of experience in pension administration, preferably in a corporate setting.

Strong knowledge of pension regulations, compliance, and reporting requirements.

Strong computer skills that include proficiency Word, Power Point and advanced proficiency in Excel and Human Resources Information Systems

Proficiency in benefits administration processes and practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees and external partners.
