As the MEP Design Lead, you will have an important role in providing technical expertise for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems design tailored specifically for underground metro and station environments.

Your role involves not only overseeing the development of detailed designs but also acting as a primary client liaison, translating needs into effective solutions, and maintaining clear communication.

Your leadership will be instrumental in guiding efficient project and design management, ensuring optimal coordination and timely delivery in this specialized sector.


Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide technical expertise in MEP systems design, with a focus on both metro and building projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
  • Oversee the development of detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, demonstrating a deep understanding of sustainable and energyefficient design principles
  • Serve as the main client contact, understanding their needs, translating them into effective MEP design solutions, and maintaining regular communication for updates, feedback, and satisfaction with project deliverables to maintain great client relationships
  • Implement robust quality assurance processes to review and validate MEP designs, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant industry standards
  • Review and ensure all design deliverables and documentation is compliant with contractual obligations, including technical requirements, safety requirements, and applicable standards
  • Provide strategic leadership in project and design management for MEP systems, emphasizing efficient coordination, budget adherence, and timely delivery

On top of that, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (preferred)
  • A registered Professional Engineer License (P.Eng.) in Ontario
  • A minimum of 10+ years' experience in mechanical or electrical engineering with design projects focused on metros and buildings
  • Experience with local underground stations and metros within Canada, along with familiarity of local building codes, standards, and regulations (ie. Ontario Building Code)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meeting highquality standards
  • Experience in client management, including the ability to understand client needs, present design solutions, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle
