- Coordinates the review process for subdivision applications in accordance with the applicable legislation and either approves, denies or makes recommendations to Council.
- Develops, administers and negotiates, City leases, easements, development and other land related agreements and documents in accordance with policies, bylaws and processes.
- Prepares reports for Council with recommendations on land management issues and subdivision applications and presents reports to Council as required.
- Performs preliminary and follow-up site investigations associated with the review and tracking of subdivision applications and related conditions.
- Maintains the City's digital Zoning Bylaw, Official Community Plan and land administration maps, provides mapping support for inter and intradepartmental needs and collaborates with the GIS Specialist in the maintenance and development of the GIS system for the Planning and Development Services Department.
- Develops and recommends strategy/policy for disposition and acquisition of land to meet the City's operational requirements and directives outlined in the Official Community Plan to other city departments and the public in relation to land management issues.
- Prepares required documentation for land dispositions and acquisitions as required.
- Administers land disposition and acquisition files in accordance with recognized conveyancing practices.
- Assigns municipal addresses and makes recommendations for assigning names to streets, subdivisions, parks and City buildings in accordance with applicable legislation and policy.
- Administers professional contracts and assists with the preparation of the operating and capital project budgets.
- Coordinates the City's response to all external Land Use Referrals and coordinates City Land Applications to outside agencies.
- Follows, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
- Acts as Land Development Supervisor as assigned.
- Performs as Development Officer in relation to the duties of this position.
- Degree in Planning, Geography or related field
- Knowledge of land registry systems and ability to interpret legal survey plans
- Interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Written and oral communication skills
- Notary Public Certification (or able to obtain within 6 months)
- Class 5 Driver's License
- Previous experience - Minimum of 3 years related work experience
- On-the-job experience – 6 months
