    Job Description:

    Summary:

    The person in this position will work with project teams on civil engineering and related technical assignments. These may include design and analysis, civil engineering design with CADD modelling software, construction plan and specification preparation, and spreadsheet preparation. Responsibilities may involve pumping-and-piping system design, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, report writing, large report production, construction cost estimating, construction observation, and facility inspections. The work will involve frequent long-term, out-of-town assignments.

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • 5 years of related work experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain in one year
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Flexible working style, self-initiative, self-motivation, and a willingness to work with teams to meet clients' needs and project schedules
  • Conscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software
  • V alid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • L egal authorization to work in Canada without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
  • Ability to safely lift and carry equipment weighing 22.7 kilograms

    Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of related work experience
  • Academic coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described above
  • Field experience on construction sites and with construction observation
  • Familiarity with soil testing procedures and evaluation of test results
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D or other CADD-based civil design software
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr or the ability to obtain a TN visa

    A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, office .

    Note: Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and to enter and work in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. A physical exam may be required, and safety training will be provided.
