$86,443 to $108,052 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits)

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON; occasional travel required to community agencies within the Region of Peel

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week; Monday to Friday

Who we are:


The Social Development, Planning and Partnerships division works collaboratively with our community partners and multiple divisions within the Human Services department to enhance effective service delivery, identify gaps in services and efficiencies, and plan, influence and create solutions that positively impact the residents of Peel.

We achieve this through program priorities including Poverty Reduction, Community Investment and Community Safety & Well-being.

We provide services such as research, analysis, data analytics, technology, recoveries, appeals, eligibility review, business and policy support, training and development, planning, evaluation, continuous improvement, document services, and project expertise.


The Community Investment Program provides funding investments to support a strong and sustainable Peel not-for-profit sector that meets the needs of residents and advances community impact.

These investments provide essential funding to Peel not-for-profits that are building community by; providing programs to the most vulnerable; supporting capacity and resources for marginalized and equity-seeking populations; and enabling upstream systems change that addresses complex social challenges.


What you will do in this role:

The Specialist is responsible for program planning through the analysis of trends and data, conducting research, developing program evaluations and communication strategies.

As the Specialist, you will support the development of funding models, community based capacity building initiatives and preparing reports which implement and maintain Community Partner supports.


  • Ensures research, documentation and continuous assessment relating to community related programs is developed from a human services perspective.
  • Conducts, compiles, and evaluates program research to ensure program outcomes, monitoring and evaluation to ensure program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Developing, implementing, and supporting programs that respond to the needs of Peel residents
  • Comprehensive review of funding proposals for the purposes of Peel investment programs
  • Supports the regular evaluation of funding programs to ensure Peel's program maintains and supports the broader Peel funding strategy.
  • Maintaining relationships with community partners and providing education awareness for the Human Service and Regional priorities.
  • Collecting, analyzing and evaluating data and its impacts on the Human Services needs in Peel.
  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of government programs and legislation relevant to Human Services Programs and monitoring and analyzing new program initiatives. Assessing their impact on the Division by reviewing current programs and services, community needs, agency documentation and prepare appropriate documentation.
  • Identifying emerging needs and developing relevant recommendations for improvements
  • Working collaboratively to maintain close and effective working relationship with other Regional staff, other levels of government, communitybased service providers, service users, and the community to ensure awareness of existing and evolving issues and concerns.
  • Assisting with the development of measures to evaluate the success of community programs
  • Guide the coordination of community events which require collaborating with or obtaining consensus with a variety of internal and external resources

What the role requires:


  • Post secondary education in Human Services or a related field, combined with a minimum of five years work experience in the human services or policy fields. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
  • Requires in depth working knowledge of Community Development methodology
  • Specific knowledge of human services programs, planning, municipal government, provincial government, and community resources and services and understanding of the processes.
  • General knowledge of housing, employment & education initiatives, labour market trends, children's programs, public health policy, justice, mental health and addiction, municipal by law process, political trends and Human Rights/Ontarians with Disabilities act

Skills/Abilities:


  • Written skills to prepare reports and information papers for a variety of audiences and verbal skills to exchange and provide information as necessary.
  • Research and analytical skills to gather and analyze stats/data and develop program and project recomme
