The
Student Estimator will have the opportunity to support our Major Projects West team in their process of bidding new work and working with the estimating team.

This is a
4-month opportunity that will work in our
downtown Vancouver head office starting
September 2024.

The student intern will have the following duties in this role:

Being mentored by Senior and Estimating Directors in bidding projects including construction approach
Pursuing various projects including a combination of bidbuild, designbuild and PPP projects ranging from _bridges, tunnels_, highways to water & wastewater treatment
Working with estimate teams on bid preparations including
Quantity takeoff and updating estimate software with quantities
Subcontractor/Vendor solicitation
Subcontractor/Vendor Quote comparisons
Inserting quotes into estimate software
Assisting with means and methods for project construction
Assisting in design build process and working with design teams
Preparing portions of estimates utilizing Hard Dollar Estimating software
Participate in tender closing
Working with partners estimating teams

Required Knowledge and Skills

Currently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
A valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract is an asset.
Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.
Attention to detail, mathematical, analytical skills and accuracy.
Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
Service orientation and ability to work effectively with a team environment.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
