NOTE:
THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1, 2023
St.
Michael's Hospital (SMH) in Toronto and the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto are currently recruiting an Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiologist.
SMH shares a collegial culture within our Neurovascular (NV) and Diagnostic Neuroradiology teams and are seeking a new physician member to support our mission of outstanding patient care delivered in a positive and constructive work environment.
We have excellent compensation and opportunities for professional and career growth. The anticipated start date is October 1, 2023, or as mutually agreed upon.SMH is a busy 600-bed, tertiary/quaternary care and Level 1 Trauma center.
The hospital is a member of the newly formed Unity Health Toronto hospital network and is one of four principal teaching hospitals of the University of Toronto.
The NV Program is a multidisciplinary service with staff from Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiology (INR and DNR, respectively), Neurosurgery, Neurology (Stroke), and Neurocritical Care.
This internationally recognized team provides comprehensive Diagnostic Neuroradiology, Neurointervention, Neurosurgery and Neurology (Stroke) services to our patients. The team also supports a strong academic mandate for research and education, providing formal clinical instruction of undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate trainees.
The department's INR/DNR services are provided in the context of the Brain and Heart Center. This centre provides a disease-based focus specializing in comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient care with an emphasis on image-guided, mínimally invasive therapy for Cerebro- and Cardio
- Vascular Disease. The centre provides a "onestop" environment that supports the patient experience from diagnosis to treatment to followup. BRAIN and HEART drive the physical and philosophical transformation of our clinical spaces at SMH, fostering opportunities to work together and to optimize/synergize technology and innovation.
Non-invasive neurovascular imaging is supported by the vascular Doppler lab, three multi-slice CT scanners, and four MRI scanners (two 1.5T and two 3T).
The recent addition of a portable ultra-low field (0.064mT) head MRI scanner is allowing us to evaluate, innovate and define the early clinical implementation of this technology in Canada.
SMH is a high-volume referral center for the endovascular management of complex neurovascular conditions and performs the full gamut of NV procedures.
We have a burgeoning practice dealing with venous disease processes in the brain and evolving techniques for intracranial hypotension and Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH).
We have excellent access to anesthesia. Our clinical services are supported by capable and dedicated Advanced Practice Nurses and highly efficient clerical staff.
In DNR, we have busy CT and MRI services supporting a strong referral base in neurosurgery, neurology, oncology, and outpatient and community medicine services.
We perform the full gamut of advanced neuroimaging techniques including functional and perfusion imaging, tractography, noninvasive vascular imaging and vessel wall imaging.
Research interests in INR include intracranial flow diverters, imaging and management of cerebral vasospasm, carotid artery stenting for asymptomatic patients (CREST 2) and technical maneuvers in acute stroke intervention.
We have an active stroke service that is currently engaged in randomized controlled trials for acute large vessel occlusion (ESCAPE MEVO, EASI-TOC).
Collaborations for registry-based studies in stroke treatment and prevention are welcome.Research interests in DNR include advanced imaging biomarkers of neuroinflammatory disease, functional and physiological tumor
