THE ROLE

• Working in collaboration with both the supervising Technical Design Director and Director of Digital Technology and assigned project team, the Design Technician actively supports the technical analysis, planning, drawing, and modeling of projects.
• Works with the Technical Design Director in the preparation of a range of dimensional CAD drawings, from Conceptual Master Plans to detailed Subdivision Plans.
• Works closely with the Director of Digital Technology building detailed 3D terrain models based on 2D design concepts and prepares renderings using Civil3D, InfraWorks, SketchUp, GIS, TwinMotion and/or Photoshop.
• Assists in the production of design communication materials, such as technical drawings, 3D model + videos, planning reports, and public consultation materials.
• Uses a variety of software tools to enhance graphic communication of technical design information to nontechnical users.

ABOUT YOU

Technical

• Holds a Design and Drafting Technology diploma from an accredited technical institute or an equivalent qualification, with fluency in critical thinking, coupled with interest in real estate and private sector consulting.
• Technologicallysavvy, with experience on AutoCAD/MicroStation, GIS, and Civil3D. Knowledge of InfraWorks, SketchUp, TwinMotion, and Adobe Suite is an asset.
• Excellent written, graphic and verbal communication skills that emphasize professionalism and team support.

Interpersonal

• Experienced and confident in taking on new challenges and capable of utilizing various software to enhance design communication for complex custom projects.
• Collaborative team player and highly adaptable, demonstrates initiative and positive attitude.
• Able to work independently; seeks input and asks for help from team members when needed.
• Adaptable to shifting project demands, and ability to proactively make decisions.

Professional

• Manage information with tact and discretion.
• Keen attention to detail and precision.
