Pollock's Hardware seeks part time Sales Associate available for weekend shifts.
Pollock's Hardware was opened in 1922 at 1407 Main Street and has been a North End institution since. In 2008 the community re-opened the store as a community co-operative. For 101 years we have been proud to provide our community with a variety of hardware and household items. General Summary

The Sales Associate will greet and assist customers with their hardware needs.

The Sales Associate will also assist in ordering, stocking and pricing merchandise, and will help maintain a clean and orderly merchandise presentation and overall store cleanliness.

The Sales Associate will also assist customers with paint selection and mixing, key cutting, basic repairs and rental items. The Sales Associate must be available for weekend shifts.

Reporting to the General Manager, essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following:

Customer Service:

• Provide a positive representation of Pollock's Hardware Coop.
• Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.
• Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
• Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
• Ensure all messages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
• Forward any customer questions or complaints that cannot be handled to the Manager.
• Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.

Store Operations:

• Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment.
• Assist with ordering, receiving and stocking of merchandise throughout the store.
• Assist with maintaining back stock and online stock levels.
• Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor area.
• Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and display windows.
• Assist with maintaining a clean, tidy and safe environment outside the store by picking up litter, sweeping, shoveling, cleaning windows, clearing and salting ice, and trimming plants as needed.
• Responsible for operating the till and handling cash.
• May be responsible for store opening and closing duties.
• Assist customers with paint selections and paint mixing.
• May operate power tools and assist with repairs and proper training.
• Communicate any store issue to management for follow up.
• Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to management team.
• Participate in store meetings.
• Be professional in appearance and actions.
• Perform all other duties as assigned including cashiering

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications for the Sales Associate position include the following:

Education/Training:
High School or GED equivalent preferred.


Experience:

Formal retail experience preferred.

Hardware, trades or maintenance experience is an asset.


Physical Demands:
Standing, walking, lifting (up to 50lbs) and climbing, shoveling, sweeping.
