Summary of Duties
Responsible for providing administrative, clerical and secretarial support to the nursing units by:
- Assisting in coordinating nursing unit activities;
- Coordinating patient admission/discharge/transfer;
- Liaising with both internal and external customers;
- Responding to telephone and reception inquires for both internal and external customers;
- Assumes other responsibilities and duties as required
Qualifications/Skills
- Successful completion of secondary school required
- Postsecondary business/secretarial courses;
- Successful completion of SHSC PAA training
- Computer/typing skills including Windows and MS Word are required;
- Keyboarding at 40 wpm or 106 kpm
- Minimum two years' experience in a busy Nursing Unit preferably in a hospital/health care environment;
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment with flexibility and diplomacy while providing excellent customer service;
- People person with strong verbal & written communication skills and customer focused with attention to details;
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals;
- Excellent organizational skills.
