The role supports the Contract Management area which consists of the following areas:
Demand Planning, Execution Contract Management Support, Goods Contract Management and Business Systems, Governance and Process.


The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a
Business Support Specialist North Atlantic
for the Contract Management Area, in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a
permanent position working on site and remotely.


This is a senior role that wil provide a broad spectrum of team support functions including Administration, Finance, Procurement, Communications and special projects through direct and dotted line reporting to ensure business objectives are met.


Pivotal to the role is the support to the Manager Contracts in special initiative implementation, budgeting, performance management, strategic planning, change management and organizational design across the main areas within the team.


In this position you will:

  • Be accountable to ensure all Projects and Services activities are integrated and designed to align with Vale Production Systems (VPS) elements, PNR's (Policies), related PGS (Procedures) and with all other Business units, i.e., Mines, Processing plants etc.
  • Develop and implement the North Atlantic strategic deployment plans for the Projects and Services team, coordinating crossboundary resources (Base Metals Teams, OE, and Operations).
  • Lead crossboundary committees to audit, monitor and track progress on VPS maturation based on the planning, identifying, and actioning systemic roadblocks.
  • Ensure the implementation of other VPS maturation driven programs from a cost control, benefits/value received and scheduling perspective.
  • Lead the change management strategy and communications for organizational design, special program/project implementation.
  • Accountable for initiating, coordinating, and chairing the development, implementation, monitoring and communication of the NA Contract Management yearly execution plan, which encompasses systems, processes, procedures, standards, KPIs, analysis and tools that will improve safety and maximize business value.
  • Accountable for collaborating with key stakeholders (internal and external), identify and develop recommendations on strategic Contract Management opportunities, ensuring best practices are standardized and shared across the business and that risks are identified and mitigated appropriately.
  • Develop and chair quarterly Leadership offsite strategic sessions (A3 progress monitoring with Managers),
- quarterly Town Halls (with extended North Atlantic Contract Management teams), yearly Strategic Planning Sessions (Contract Management Superintendents, Supervisors and Leads).

  • Initiate the coordination of the annual budgeting cycles for all Departments and Cost Centres (People/headcount, Materials, Services, Other).
  • Chair weekly Leadership Meetings incorporating on a weekly rotation, Monthly Risk Management review, VPS People review, Monthly Finance Budgeting review.

About You

Education:


  • Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, or a related field of study.

Experience:


  • Minimum 8 years' experience within a mining operation.

Skills:


  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role with experience in Operations,
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, influence and collaborate with others to build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to convert complexity to simplicity.
  • Excellent presentation development skills.
  • Results focused with strong analytical, planning, organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of all Vale systems.
  • Software skills in MS Office products.
