  • Conduct insightful interviews with artists, thought leaders and other players in the creative community.
  • Continuously monitor local, national and international cultural and social issues to identify new story opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to develop innovative content formats, such as short videos, staged readings and photo essays.
  • Actively participate in the content distribution strategy for our digital platforms and social media accounts.

Please Note

  • The work schedule may include weekend and evening shifts, especially when you cover cultural events.

What you bring?

  • Three years of directly related experience that includes proven ability in the field and knowledge of the media industry.
  • Proven ability to find stories.
  • Knowledge of the Alberta arts scene and its key players an asset.

  • Excellent understanding of spoken and written English, and ease speaking the language.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada Journalistic Standards and Practices.
  • Critical mind.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
  • A talent for translating complex realities into clear, contextualized and compelling narratives.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a faced-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Good general knowledge and a keen curiosity about artistic, social and contemporary issues.
  • Solid knowledge of Alberta, Canadian and international news.
  • Familiarity with issues affecting French-speaking minority communities, particularly in Alberta.
  • Availability to travel and work flexible hours, including on weekends.
  • Valid Canadian driver's licence.
  • Ability to pick up new technology quickly.
  • Knowledge of newsroom production applications (iNews, Dalet, Scoop and Avid) an asset.

Please provide a link to your portfolio or recent audio, video and print productions.
