The
Port Robinson, ON location is looking for a detail-oriented, analytical and dependable
Quality Control Inspector to join the Quality department for a
twelve (12) month contract.



SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:


The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for implementing, monitoring and ensuring compliance with the Company Quality policies, programs and practices in respect of the various and required codes and standards on company work projects and fabrications.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Establishes quality standards for evaluation of products
  • Examines work pieces to determine conformance with specifications and welding requirements
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints and job orders for workers
  • Performs visual, dimensional and weld inspections
  • Performs nondestructive testing on piping and pressure vessels built to ASME/ANSI codes
  • Monitors currency of welder qualification records and certifications
  • Maintains inspection and calibrations records
  • Verifies dimensions of fabrications and code vessel calibration using various inspection tools
  • Coordinates activities for fabrication to various ASME code vessels
  • Ensures compliance with code standards and requirements (i.e. ASME Section I, III, VIII, B31.1 and B31.3, B51, CSA Z(N)299, CSA N285, ISO 9001)
  • Establishes procedures for testing welding of vessels and piping to code requirements
  • Prepares test plans for fabrication of pressure vessels
  • Presents and expedites solutions to fabrication problems and testing procedures
  • Complies, analyzes and presents history dockets, data files & data reports (i.e. U1A forms, piping data reports, partial data reports)
  • Participates in ASME certification audits and various stamp renewals

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Diploma in Quality or Engineering or C.E.T.
  • Inspection techniques
  • Adept in various Q.A./Q.C. codes
  • Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Certification W59 Level II required
  • CGSB MT and PT Level II an asset.
  • Well acquainted with the development of ITP (Inspection Test Plans) to various codes
  • Fully conversant with pressure vessel fabrication to ASME Section I, B31.1Pressure Piping, VIII, Div.1 Div.2 and B31.3 Process piping

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS**:


  • 2 years of Q.C. field experience in a construction and/or nuclear environment
  • Knowledge of and experience with C.S.A. N299.2,.3 and.4, ASME III, NQA1 (Nuclear Requirements), ISO 9001 and CSA-N285 Code
  • Background with inspection and construction operations is required
