Overview:


As the Asset Liability Management Lead, you will be responsible for performing all aspects of the Corporation's Asset Liability Management function and strategy including leading the design, implementation, monitoring and reporting.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversee all aspects of Corporation's Asset Liability Management strategy including evaluating the effectiveness. Prepare reports for the Executive and Board of Directors explaining the causes of mismatches between asset & liability cash flows and changes in the present value of assets & liabilities on a monthly basis.
  • Develop stress testing scenarios to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy under various economic environments.
  • Recommend actions to improve the effectiveness of the strategy, including how to better hedge interest rate, inflation, and liquidity risks.
  • Identify alternative ALM strategies and evaluates their effectiveness relative to the Corporation's current strategy and develops formal recommendations for the consideration of the Investment Committee.
  • Prepare findings relating to all aspects of investment manager performance, which may include style analysis, factor analysis, attribution analysis, and compliance with the Investment Policy.
  • Actively participates in the annual regulatory hearing related to the Corporation's ALM strategy, including drafting relevant sections of the General Rate Application, responding to information requests, and testifying at the annual hearing if necessary or supports the Director, ALM & Investments when testifying.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics.
  • Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (ACIA) or Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).
  • Completion of at least the CFA Level 1 exam would be an asset.
  • Five years progressively more responsible experience in Asset Liability Management with seven or more years of experience in actuarial fields.
  • Leadership experience considered an asset.
  • Indepth knowledge of actuarial principles and associated tools and methodology.
  • Proven capabilities in research, analysis to interpret and synthesize complex data.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills to clearly convey complex information in a concise and straightforward manner.
