    Description

    Primary Responsibilities:
    Prepare or assist in preparing terms of reference for each phase of a project (planning, design, and construction).

    To conduct the liaison activities among the First Nation Project Manager representative, local contractors, external contractors, Keewaytinook Okimakanak Public Works Unit, and government departments and agencies that may have an interest in the projects.

    Attend workshops and career development courses for First Nation/Tribal Council Development, upon the agreement or recommendation of management.

    Coordinate activities of this position with the activities of other technologist positions working for Keewaytinook Okimakanak, and with other employees of the Tribal Council where appropriate.

    Such other responsibilities and duties that may from time to time be assigned by the Public Works Manager, including participation as a project team member on certain projects that relate to or impact of the operations and maintenances functions and public works activities within member communities.


    Tasks:
    Creating invoices and cheque requisitions for all Keewaytinook Okimakanak led projects i.e. ISC, Health Canada, etc.
    Creating and issuing payment certificates for community projects that Keewaytinook Okimakanak Public Works are Project Managing.
    Keep track of when project reports are to be completed.
    Ensure that the staff submit all ISC and Health Canada financial and physical reports.
    Assist in completion of the community's core capital and FNIIP reports.
    Assist in preparing proposals for Keewaytinook Okimakanak and Keewaytinook Okimakanak community projects.
    Assist communities and contractors with payment in regards to projects.
    Manage files in the "S" Drive (Share Point).
    Research information as requested by the Public Works Manager.


    Basic Requirements:
    Experience in the construction and project management of public infrastructure, including community services.
    Valid Ontario Driver's License.
    Access to an Ontario licensed and insured vehicle.


    First Nation Cultural Awareness:


    The position requires an excellent knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture as well as knowledge of the government organizations.

    The incumbent will require a thorough understanding of the client group(s) aspirations, socioeconomic needs, social environment, history, values and attitudes in order to provide and appropriate service.

    The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with member First Nations, colleagues, and superiors is crucial.

    The incumbent will be required to exercise good judgment, adaptability, and must be able to display empathy and understanding of the needs of each First Nation.

    The position requires a commitment to capacity building among local public works and construction organization and an understanding of the needs and abilities of these organizations.
